Thompson/Center Icon
Notes: Introduced in early 2007, the Icon is Thompson/Center’s first centerfire bolt-action repeater. The entire rifle is designed for accuracy, from the precision barrel and action to the grain of the stock. Many new manufacturing processes were used for the production of the Icon, including vastly-improved barrel reaming, the use of an improved form of 5R rifling, a muzzle crowned at a 60-degree chamfer, and a solid-topped receiver with an integral MIL-STD-1913 rail. The bolt handle is of a butterknife design, something quite uncommon in this day and age, but quite easy to grasp and cycle. The bolt is surrounded by a skeletonized shroud, and the bolt itself is machined out of bar-stock steel. The stock is of fine-grained, dense walnut, with 20 dpi checkering on the pistol grip wrist and fore-end, and offers an almost straight-line profile; in addition, the butt has a Sims recoil pad. The trigger unit is removable in one piece, and secured in such a way to make it quite solid when mounted; it is also adjustable for weight of pull, takeup, and overtravel. The trigger also incorporates elements that prevent over-adjusting to the point where damage to the trigger unit would occur. The 24-inch barrel is free-floating and aluminum block-bedded (with the bedding blocks epoxied into the stock); there is virtually no flex to the bedding, and virtually no vibration of the barrel during shots. The primary safety is traditional, but there is also a bolt release that allows the bolt to be cycled without rounds actually being chambered. The Icon appears to be an exceptional rifle in virtually all aspects.
Twilight 2000 Notes: The Icon does not exist in the Twilight 2000 timeline.

Thunderbolt Special
Notes: This hunting rifle started out as a custom modification of the Remington Model 700 BDL. The designer used a new round for it; this round is an 8mm Remington Magnum brass necked down to accept a 115-grain .257 caliber cartridge. The combination of a small round and large brass makes for a round with excellent penetrative power and great damage despite its small caliber. The stock is a new synthetic stock made by H-S Precision.
