Kona was...

   More About My Pet...

Kona was our pet from 1976-1994.  She died at the age of 18 of a stroke.

She was a very energetic and feisty dog for most of her life, slowing

down only in the last few years of her life.  She was perhaps the smartest

animal I ever met, teaching herself tricks to aid her in mooching and just

     to please us.

     Fun Facts:

---Even though Kona only weighed about 35 pounds, she once attacked and

scared away an intruder in the backyard.

---What kind of dog was Kona?  Even our vet was not sure.  Chow, Sheltie, and

Border Terrier are the leading guesses, but Kona was probably descended from

         a long line of mutts.

---Kona was found on a military airstrip in Hawaii at the age of about 5-6 weeks.

She was found by MPs working for my stepfather, and brought to his MP station.

She got loose, ran around the station, and somehow impressed my stepfather,

a man who doesn't like dogs.
