DAC 8.120 FAEG/130 FAEG/140 FAE/11.154 FAEG
Notes: These are
modern cabover all-terrain medium trucks for transport of cargo over rough
terrain. The 8.120 has a larger
payload, but a less-powerful ROMAN SA 798-05 120-horsepower engine.
The 8.130 is slightly smaller and has a somewhat reduced payload, but a
more powerful Type 92L4 DTI 130-horsepower Euro2-compliant engine.
The 8.140 FAE has an even more powerful Steyr WD 812.02 140-horsepower
engine, but is even smaller in dimensions.
The 11.154 FAEG is the most powerful of the four listed here (there is an
even larger version, the 15.215 DFAEG, in Romanian Heavy Unarmored Vehicles);
however, it is even smaller in size than the other three, even though it is
heavier. It uses a Type 798-05
turbodiesel developing 154 horsepower. All have a hatch over the commander’s
position which may or may not have a light weapon mount.
The front windshield is large and affords excellent visibility.
The floor of the cargo area is made from wood planks.
The cab is heated. These four trucks share many automotive and structural
members, along with the 15.215 DFAEG in Romanian Heavy Unarmored Vehicles.

Steagul Rosu SR-101
Notes: This
predecessor of the SR-132 is basically a Romanian copy of the Russian Zil-150
with a slightly different cab, and slightly different specifications. The SR-101
can be distinguished from the Zil-150 by the differently shaped cab roof; the
SR-101 has a fixed windshield, a flat cab ceiling, and a differently shaped cab
doors. The cab itself is all-metal (though very early prototypes had a wooden
cab). The SR-101 is powered by an SR-101 gasoline engine developing 90
horsepower, coupled with a manual transmission. The layout is conventional, with
the engine under a hood up front, the cab behind that, and a rear cargo area,
which can be covered by a canvas tilt over wooden and steel bows. The standard
SR-101 is a 4x2 drive vehicle, but there is a rare 4x4 version called the
SR-104. Both can haul 4 tons on roads.
One variant
exists, a dump truck.

SR-131 Carpati
Notes: The
SR-131 is a medium 4x4 truck used by Romania and Czechoslovakia.
It is a further development of the SR-101 above. The layout is
conventional, with the engine at the front, fully enclosed cab behind that, and
cargo area at the rear. The cargo
area has drop wooden sides and a drop metal tailgate. The engine is a
modification of the Ford Block Y engine; the resulting SR-211 V-8 develops 140
horsepower, a marked increase over the engine of the SR-101. The transmission is
sort of a limiting factor, having only four forward speeds. The SR-131 is a 4x2
vehicle with limited off-road mobility, but there is a 4x4 version, the SR-132.
The SR-113
Bucegi is a larger version of the Carpati, with a reinforced suspension to
enable it to haul more cargo. The
engine is the same, but the Bucegi has a 5-speed transmission. The Bucegi is
also used by Romania and Czechoslovakia. Like the SR-131, the SR-113 is a 4x2
vehicle, but there is a 4x4 version, the SR-114.
Variants of
these vehicles include a carrier for the BM-21 multiple rocket launcher, a dump
truck, an ambulance, a tractor truck (which may pull a trailer that weighs 18
tons), and a tanker.
