SAE Alsetex RO-5
Notes: The RO-5
and its sister shotgun, the PM-5, were designed specifically for military use,
with a secondary role of police use.
Both the RO-5 and PM-5 can be had with one of three stocks: a
conventional wooden stock, a polymer stock with a pistol grip, or a folding
stock of tubular metal (which folds over the top of the receiver).
Wooden and polymer stocks have ventilated rubber recoil pads.
In all cases, the metalwork is of light steel alloy which has a
phosphated finish for corrosion resistance; this finish is also completely
non-reflective. Both may be had
with chrome-lined barrels 19.7 or 14.1 inches in length, and are equipped to
accept screw-in choke tubes ranging from Cylindrical to Full Choke.
The RO-5 is fed by a tubular magazine, while the PM-5 is magazine-fed,
except for that, and the internal changes necessary for the difference in feeds,
the two are identical.
Some of you
might think, This all sounds very familiar.
That is because the SAE Alsetex version of the PM-5 is a
license-produced, modified version of the Italian Valtro PM-5.
It should be noted, however, that SAE Alsetex PM-5 magazines will not fit
into the Valtro PM-5, and vice versa.
