IMBEL MD-22A1
Notes:
This is a similar concept to the Argentine FAL Cal .22, being an FN FAL
modified to fire the .22 Long Rifle cartridge.
The MD-22A1 is much lighter than a normal FAL, and uses a smaller
magazine (again, like the FAL Cal .22, a .22 Long Rifle magazine inside the body
of a false FAL magazine), but the balance and mechanical operation of the weapon
is close enough to a normal FAL to make it adequate for basic rifle marksmanship
and care training. Unlike the
Argentine weapon, the MD-22A1 is the result of a specific manufacture instead of
being the result of a conversion kit.
Twilight 2000
Story: Like the Argentines, the Brazilians started handing out these weapons to
irregular forces in Brazil starting a few months earlier than the Argentines;
some of these weapons even made it to tribes such as the Yanamamo deep inside
the Amazon rain forests, where they were mostly used for hunting small prey like
monkeys, or scaring off jaguars. It
was also widely available in South and Central America in the years before the
war for civilian and military sales.

Taurus 63
Notes: The
Taurus Model 63 is an almost exact copy of the old Winchester Model 63, which
was one of the first autoloading small-caliber rifles.
The chief difference is the use of .22 Long Rifle ammunition instead of
the old .22 Winchester Automatic ammunition of the Winchester 63 and its
predecessor, the Winchester 1903. (
Versions of the Taurus Model 63 in Winchester Magnum Rimfire and .17 Hornady
Magnum Rimfire are forthcoming, and statistics are presented below.)
The rifle, like its predecessors, is fed from a tubular magazine that is
in the buttstock instead of under the barrel.
Loading is simple; the magazine is pulled out to the rear of the stock
and rounds dropped into the reloading slot on the right side of the stock.
Field stripping is very simple; most cleaning can be done by separating
the weapon into upper and lower receivers.
The part under the barrel that looks like a tubular magazine is actually
the charging plunger. The rear
sight is adjustable for elevation and the front sight for windage.
Though not a combat rifle, the Model 63 is an effective plinker, target
shooter, and varminter.

Taurus CT
Notes: Also
known as the CTG-29, the CT-9 is
designed not only as a civilian carbine, but something that might be useful for
police and as a CQB platform. The
carbine uses the blowback carbine and fires from a closed bolt.
Atop the receiver is a full-length MIL-STD-1913, one that runs the length
of the receiver, the upper handguard, to the end of the gas block.
There is a further rail as the front of the handguard which extends from
the front of the handguard back about half the length of the handguard.
The handguard can accommodate two other rails as the 3 and 9-o’clock
positions. The CT series comes with a BUIS set with a fully adjustable rear
sight and a square post front sight which is hooded.
The charging handle and controls can be reversed to accommodate left or
right-handed shooters. The CT-9 has
a 16-inch barrel and is about as long as an AR-15 and lighter than one.
Magazines are loaded into the grip, but are not standard pistol
magazines.
The CT-40
(CTG-40) is basically the same as the CT-9, but fires a heavier cartridge.
