Al-Zarrar
Notes: This is an upgraded Type 59 (T-55) tank used by Pakistan. Improvements are in the key areas of protection, firepower, suspension, and mobility. The Al-Zarrar (Striker) has increased armor protection in the form of appliqué armor and attachments for reactive armor (HF, HS, TF, TS). The fire control system has been greatly improved, and the 100mm main gun has been replaced with a 125mm gun. The engine is smaller and more powerful, as well as being more fuel-efficient. This vehicle was first used in combat with Indian forces in early 1998.

Notes: Pakistani M-48A5s normally mount reactive armor (HF, TF, TS). They also mount a W-85 (C), instead of an MAG. They are otherwise standard M-48A5s.

MBT-2000 Al-Khalid
Notes: The Al-Khalid is a Pakistani tank that borrows from many previous tank designs, such as the Chinese Type 59, Type 69, and Type 85; mostly, however, the Al-Khalid is a further development of the Chinese Type 90-II. These vehicles, along with a liberal supply of new components, have led to an entirely new tank. The new armor is partially composite, with a modular design philosophy borrowed from the Israelis that allows damaged armor to be changed in the field. This design also allows the armor to be upgraded easily if new armor packages become available. Lugs for reactive armor are mounted (HF, HS, TF, TS). The fire control is computerized and incorporates a laser rangefinder.

Type 69 (Pakistani-Modified)
Notes: These vehicles use a 105mm L7 gun and have three smoke grenade launchers on each side of the turret. In addition, the main gun and coaxial machinegun are linked to a computerized laser rangefinder and sight. Pakistani Type 69s are often equipped with ERA (TF, TS, HF). This results in a vehicle similar to the Chinese Type 79 (though it is not a Type 79).
